Morning Star celebrates
91st anniversary Sunday
WEIRTON - The Morning Star Baptist Church, located at 3124 Weir Ave., will celebrate its 91st anniversary Sunday.
The Rev. John B. McKenney, Mount Zion Baptist Church pastor, and his choir and congregation, will travel from Fairmont to be special guests at the 3 p.m. service.
All are invited to attend the program, which is sponsored by the Morning Star Harmonizers.
PV Methodist holding service
WEIRTON - The Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, located at 101 Lisa Court, will host "Breaking Through," an alternative worship event including contemporary music and music videos, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Grief support group meeting
WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Charity Hospice Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Blessed Sacrament Church's Lower Sargus Hall, located at 852 Main St.
An afternoon support group meeting will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Two Ridges Church, located at 1085 Canton Road.
This month's meeting will focus on getting through the holidays. Those planning to attend are asked to make a reservation.

Woman's Club sponsors recycling
NEW CUMBERLAND - The General Federation of Woman's Clubs of West Virginia Woman's Club of New Cumberland is sponsoring a recycling project to collect old pairs of athletic shoes.
Since the early 1990s, Nike has collected and recycled more than 25 million pairs of shoes, with every part of the shoe recycled and turned into "Nike Grind," which is used to make sports and playground surfaces.
The Woman's Club is providing a container at the Swaney Memorial Library where donations can be dropped off until Nov. 30. Shoes do not need to be Nike brand. Shoes must not contain metal, be wet or damp or be cleats or dress shoes.
Lodge 183 holding Christmas party
WEIRTON - The Italian Sons and Daughters of America Lodge 183 will hold their annual Christmas party at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
The event will include a holiday buffet, a special cookie table and music.

Christ United holding cookie walk
WEIRTON - The Christ United Methodist Church will hold a cookie walk from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. Dec. 4 at the church, located at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave.
Cookies are available for $5 per dozen. There will be a variety of holiday cookies, lady locks and nut rolls.
Also available will be lunches of soup, hot roast beef sandwiches and hot dogs. Both eat-in and take-out are available.
Orders of cookies or lunch can be made by calling the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursday at (304) 723-0800 or Jean Gumm at (304) 723-1438.
The cookie walk has been under the direction of Gumm since its inception in 1997.
Support group plans Christmas party
WEIRTON - The Steubenville/Weirton Multiple Sclerosis Support Group will hold their Christmas party at 2 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Serbian-American Cultural Center.
Lunch is free for members and is $16 for guests, $8 for guests 5 to 12 years old and free for guests under 5 years old.
Santa will attend, and door prizes will be awarded. Anyone with MS and their friends and family are welcome. Make a reservation by Nov. 26 by calling Connie Kafton at (304) 527-3023.
